The Stochastic Process of Tumor Initiation and Progression
Although there are a huge number of studies on cancer, the mechanism behind its initiation and progression remains a mystery. In this talk, we first investigate the roll of stem cell niche's architecture in tumor initiation. Then we look at inflammatory cancers from a new perspective. We try to understand the proces of tumor initiation from the site of chronic inflammation and its progression. We propose that the reason behind the failure of treatments and the metastasis for inflammatory carcinomas might be adapted bone marrow derived cells. We also suggest that understanding and comparing the wound healing process in the normal and tumor microenvironments is necessary to understand cancer and its mechanism.
