Tina Kennedy

Ms. Kennedy has 32 years of actuarial experience in the insuance industry including over 25 years with Pacific Life. Her experience includes roles in planning and financial reporting, product management, valuation, asset adequacy analysis, division risk management, and enterprise risk management.

Ms. Kennedy was promoted to vice president in March 2008 and designated the Appointed Actuary in September 2015. In her current role, she fulfills the legal role as the company's Appointed Actuary, oversees the work of the division valuation actuaries in performing the annual asset adequacy analysis and quarterly determination of statutory reserves, leads the Corporate Actuarial team in Enterprise Risk Management responsible for valuation and risk management functions for Synthetic GICs and Pacific Life Re longevity and life insurance business ceded to PLIC, serves as a member on the enterprise Assumption Governance Committee, and serves as a senior leader and member on the Senior Actuarial Forum.

 

Tarun Varma, CFA

Mr. Varma joined Pacific Life in 2008 as a Senior Market & Credit Risk Analyst in ERM and was promoted in 2012 to Director, Market & Credit Risk. In this role, he leads the company-wide efforts in the development and ongoing reporting for economic capital, including economic capital determination, allocation, pricing, and model development for Pacific Life and its divisions and subsidiaries. He continues to lead the research, measurement, and management of economic capital to promote its expanded use as an important management tool for decision-making within the company. 

Before joining Pacific Life and moving to California, Mr. Varma worked in the Private Equitiy space for BC Consulting, a subsidiary of American Capital, in greater D.C. area for 3 years. Prior to that, Mr. Varma worked for approximately 10 years for several financial institutions, including working at AVP Financial Modeling in assest securitizations at Bank of New York Mellon and Senior Analyst at Bank of America.
