Getting into the Mix: Exploring Cahn-Hilliard and its Applications
The Cahn-Hilliard equation is a partial differential equation that is traditionally used to model phase-separation; a physical phenomena in which a binary mixture begins to self-segregate back into its two distinct components. Nowadays the equation is tackling more than just mixture models. In fact, the Cahn-Hilliard equation has found its way into various other applications including computer vision, solidification dynamics, and cell organization models. In this talk we showcase this versatility by demonstrating how the Cahn-Hilliard equation can be applied to these varying applications.
