Brendan Jones
Brendan is a software developer at Nyhart. He creates modifies, and fixes software designed to help actuaries work with clients and for improving the clients experience with seeing their retirement plans improve. Recently, he has been working on Votaire, the startup company at Nyhart. Votaire is a holistic retirement planner with the goal of helping individuals prepare enough for retirement and sustain through longer lives and financial shocks. At Notre Dame, Brendan was a Physics major with a concentration in Computer Science and an interest in actuarial science, especially models for financial economics.
Melissa Krumdick
Melissa graduated with Honors in Applied Mathematics and Statistics in 2016, while minoring in actuarial science and the Glynn Family Honors program. She is a derivatives trader at Belvedere Trading, a proprietary market firm located in Chicago. Currently, she is a member of Belvedere’s S&P 500 desk where she is an electronic options trader. Since graduation, she has traded oil, gold, and equity index options both through the OTC broker-dealer market and the electronic market.
Zachary Mastrovich
Zachary is an actuarial student at Windhaven Insurance, which specializes in private passenger auto insurance. His main role is to run rate indications, analyze the results, review these results with management, and file the changes to our rates with the state. He is also responsible for monthly, quarterly, and yearly data pulls and reports. Finally, Zach assists the reserving team in pulling and analyzing data.
Chris Michalski
Chris Michalski is a 2012 graduate of the College of Science with a degree in Mathematics and a supplemental major in Computer Applications. He has six years of pension actuarial experience with Willis Towers Watson. Working primarily on consulting and delivery, his work focuses on defined benefit plans for Fortune 1000 private employers. Currently, he is working out of the Chicago office with clients mostly in the greater Chicagoland area, but he has the opportunity to work with clients spanning the Midwest. Chris enjoys sports of many kinds and supports teams from his hometown of Ohio as well as everything Notre Dame.
Tom Totten
Tom is an actuary and chief executive officer of Nyhart, one of the nation’s largest independent actuarial firms. As the firm’s senior executive, he oversees the operation and strategic growth of the growing company in addition to continuing to consult as a senior actuary to a variety of national companies. Tom has a broad background in defined benefit and defined contribution consulting. Tom previously worked for the international actuarial firm Hewitt Associates, where he served as an actuarial consultant and at United Actuarial Services as chief health care actuary, consulting with Taft-Hartley plans for health care and pensions.
