In April, distinguished actuary Greg Leonberger gave a talk to undergraduates entitled, “From Liabilities to Assets: The Benefits of an Actuarial Background.” The lecture was part of the Delahanty Family Endowment for Excellence in Mathematics lecture series.

Michael Walters, distinguished actuary, advises undergraduates interested in the field

In his talk, Walters advised students on the nature of actuarial exams, education, and career prospects. When speaking of the exams Walters cited his experience as education chairman at CAS, and told students not to be discouraged by the four to five hundred hours of studying required for each test.
