Dr. Rosenbaum received his BS in Computer Science and Mathematics in 2006 and received a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Houston in 2011. He spent three years as a postdoctoral associate at the University of Pittsburgh before starting at Notre Dame as an assistant professor in 2014.

Dr. Rosenbaum is generally interested in computational and mathematical modeling of neural circuits in the brain. He has worked extensively on understanding the emergence and functional role of excitatory-inhibitory balance in cortical circuits. More recently, he has worked at the interface of neuroscience and AI with a focus on understanding what each field can learn from the other.
