Awards
Recognizing student achievement is an important part of our department’s mission. Each year, we honor outstanding undergraduate students through three departmental awards that celebrate academic excellence, meaningful research, and continued study in ACMS.
Outstanding Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics Award
This award is presented to two outstanding senior students with a primary major within the ACMS department. Selection is based on academic performance, faculty input, and extracurricular involvement. All ACMS majors are automatically considered. Finalists may be contacted and asked to submit a résumé.
Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics Research Mission Award
This award recognizes a student whose ACMS-related research reflects the mission of the University of Notre Dame. Eligible work may include research projects, course projects, internships, or independent projects. Group projects will not be considered. The award is open to undergraduate students completing a full or supplementary major in the ACMS department. A call for applications will be announced during the spring semester. Applicants submit a short write-up (no more than one page) describing their project and explaining how it advances or embodies the University’s mission.
Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics Continuing Education Award
This award is given to one graduating ACMS student who will continue their education within the ACMS Department at Notre Dame. Eligible programs include the in-person Professional Master’s program, the online Master’s in Data Science, or the PhD program. Preference is given to students who have completed a full or supplementary major within the department, though students who have completed a minor within the department will also be considered.
